SCHOOL CAN BE extremely boring. For most of us, an average school day was spiced up only by a free class in which we were allowed talk, or by someone screaming “there’s a dog in the yard” before everyone huddled around the window to see it.

Students at Washington D.C. school McKinley Technology High were the recipients of an even better surprise than a rogue animal urinating on trees in the yard. They got a visit from former President of the United States, Barack Obama.

As you’d expected they were fairly surprised.

Obama casually entered the class, saying:

Hey, how’s it going everybody? I decided I was going to stop by. Is that OK? How’s everybody doing? Is that my seat? You guys don’t mind me crashing right?

Naturally, his question was met with a very big “No!” It took a while for these kids to compose themselves.

Obama shared a video of his surprise entrance to his Instagram account.

He also shared a tweet about his visit, saying that he was ‘Proud of these McKinley Tech students – inspiring young minds that make me hopeful about our future’.

A spokesman for Obama told The Hill why Obama made the visit. He wanted to discuss their life goals, pursuing higher education and how to give back to their communities.

President Obama is focused on supporting the next generation of leaders. Today’s meeting is part of that ongoing conversation with young people.

As he left the school, he was cheered on by the rest of the pupils.
